Your own power system on board with a generator

A generator on board is useful for equipment that uses power continuously or frequently. The next-generation generators is not only economical and whisper-quiet but also very compact and suitable for boats with little spare space. A generator will also keep the batteries up to standard, so that vital equipment can always remain switched on.

Generator system

A generator converts mechanical energy, obtained from fuel, into electrical energy for power consumption. However, the generator is one part of the on-board power system. The whole system normally consists of a generator, a battery, an inverter and software for monitoring and of course the cabling. That is why De Gier Yacht Service often use generator sets for installation. All components are then perfectly matched to each other. The advanced software ensures accurate monitoring and control. These flexible system solutions with unprecedented capabilities not only ensure a constant supply of energy on board, they also greatly reduce power consumption.

Tailor-made advice

For a generator system it is important to know how many Watts of power you need. This includes the power for navigation, lighting, air conditioning, cooking and washing equipment and TV. Laptops and smartphones also use power.

The experts of De Gier Yacht Service can assist you and will make a calculation based on your wishes. The maximum peak load iwill be taken into account, as well as any extra loads when, for example, an air conditioner is switched on.
When installing a new system we will discuss the voltage and the nrequired inverters. Options include 12V or 24V DC and/or 230V AC. The number of sailing hours also plays a role, as does the possibility of recharging via shore power.
